I shove my fingers into the sand
the warm granules, I can command
It fills the cracks of my fingertips
My identity, the sand will eclipse
It races up my neck
surrounding my face as it continues its trek
It clogs up my ears
swarms into my eyeballs and soaks up my tears
The sand tickles my gums
and weighs heavy in my lungs
pushing me down into the ground
where I can only wait to be unbound
